It is my great pleasure to see the further advancement of baseball in Hong Kong witnessed by this IBAF Hong Kong International Baseball Open. After its pilot game launched last year, this international baseball tournament is supported by the participation of more teams from more countries and regions.

Over the past 20 years since the founding of the Hong Kong Baseball Association, various levels of regional and international games were held in Hong Kong, yet the Hong Kong International Baseball Open is the first ever international baseball tournament for men organized by the Association. I wish this tournament will continue its annual run without stop.

Lastly, I wish all athletes of the teams enjoying the matches they are going to play and a happy stay in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Baseball Association is proud to host the IBAF Hong Kong International Baseball Open (HKIBO) in December 2013. Subvented by the Arts and Sport Development Fund of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR, it is the second year for our Association to host this international baseball tournament for men; this year, IBAF has given its sanction to the HKIBO 2013.  We are extremely pleased to announce that there will be a total of 7 oversea teams, including teams from China, Japan, Iraq, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan and USA, plus three local teams from Hong Kong taking part in the tournament this year. It is certainly a remarkable achievement to us as compared to having the tournament with three overseas teams plus one local team in 2012.

This Tournament has been scheduled to be held at Sai Tso Wan Baseball Field (STW) and the Baseball Field at Hong Kong International School (HKIS) from 20 - 23 December 2013, while having the Opening Ceremony at Sai Tso Wan Baseball Field at 9:00am on 21st December 2013.

On behalf of the Hong Kong Baseball Association, we wish to extend our sincere welcome all the players, coaches, managers, supporters from overseas to Hong Kong and wish you all enjoy every moment in here. We also wish to encourage our players, coaches, managers to find every opportunity to learn from our friends from overseas and, in return, develop strong bonding and friendship with them. We would also wish to extend our heartfelt thank to our umpires, scorers, local baseball supporters and volunteers for all the tournament and logistics support rendered during the tournament period. It is expected that this tournament will be full of excitement and with success from all aspects.
