Opening Ceremony

14 December 2017 | WBSC Hong Kong International Baseball Open 2017 (“HKIBO 2017”) Opening Ceremony was held this morning at Sai Tso Wan Recreation Ground.

The Ceremony began with belly dance performance of DanzXtreme by Master Ram. The tournament committee was introduced and we presented souvenir to the participating teams, our sponsors who provide the financial support that makes this tournament possible.

President Philip Li gave us a welcoming speech. The First Pitch had one or two catchers from each team to catch a ceremonial first pitch from the following dignitary guests and the directors of the Association.

This Tournament is organized by the Hong Kong Baseball Association (“the Association”), subvented by the Arts and Sport Development Fund of the Home Affairs Bureau and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR, an international event sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (“WBSC”). A four-day tournament to be held on 14-17 December at Sai Tso Wan Recreation Ground; 3 national teams from Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong; and 4 club teams Australia, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, will compete for the champion in the respective group.
