It brings me joy to welcome the teams to play the Hong Kong International Baseball Open 2015. I am thrilled to have old and new teams come to play this international baseball game and am excited to see the Hong Kong Baseball Association’s passion and ability in promoting the international baseball persistently.
December 2015There is a good chance for baseball to be reinstated the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Let’s pray and wait for the decision of the International Olympic Committee at its meeting to be held in August 2016. All of us in the baseball community must continue working hard, sharpening our baseball skills and behaving ourselves with the highest sportsmanship, to make baseball one of the most popular and welcome sports in the world. This Hong Kong International Baseball Open is a platform for baseball players from different places of the world to enhance their baseball skills through competition and make friends. It is indeed my honour to witness the inauguration of 2015 TOTO WBSC Hong Kong International Baseball Open (HKIBO) to be held in both Sai Tso Wan Baseball Field and Lion Rock Park No. 1 Baseball Field between 4th and 7th December this year. I am particurlarly pleased and grateful for TOTO as our title sponsor again this year. It is the fourth year for HKBA, with the subvention from the Arts and Sport Development Fund (ASDF) of the Home Affairs Bureau and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR, to host this tournament for a total of 6 teams from North America, Russia, Singapore , Taiwan and USA, with two local teams from Hong Kong competing for the championship title this year. I wish to extend our warm welcome to all the players, coaches, managers, supporters and friends from overseas for joining us this year again and wish you all another joyful moment in Hong Kong. For those who just have the first time in Hong Kong, I wish you a memorable stay this time. My heartfelt thanks should be specially extended to our umpires, scorers, local baseball supporters and volunteers for their technical as well logistics support they will be providing during the entire Tournament period. This is the fourth year for the Hong Kong Baseball Association (HKBA) to host the TOTO WBSC Hong Kong International Baseball Open (HKIBO). On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am delighted to announce that the HKIBO 2015 has been scheduled in both Sai Tso Wan Baseball Field and Lion Rock Park Baseball Field between 4th and 7th December this year. We are also pleased to have TOTO as our title sponsor for two consecutive years. The HKIBO 2015 is sanctioned by World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and subvented by the Arts and Sport Development Fund of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR. There will be a total of 6 teams from overseas, including teams from North America Allies, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, US Allies with two local teams from Hong Kong competing for the championship title this year. I wish to take opportunity to extend our sincere welcome all the players, coaches, managers, supporters from overseas and wish you all enjoy every moment in here and develop strong bonding and friendship amongst all of us in and beyond the Tournament.
